Curriculum

One summative assessment for the unit plan was for students to present the information they learned about someone who affected our government in a song.

How does our government affect our lives?

Essential Question for 5th Grade Writing and Social Studies Unit

One thing I've enjoyed about student teaching is being able to integrate new technologies into the classroom. Apart from pen and paper, I used quizizz, goformative, google docs, canvas, Quizlet, and more. In addition, because I taught writing and history, my lesson had to be interdisciplinary. It is almost impossible to teach without touching on literacy in some shape or form. Students were able to learn history and build their writing and literacy skills.

One great earning experience for both me and my students was the classroom introduction of goformative. I immediately fell in love with the program and began making assignments. What I did not account for was the time it would take my students to get familiar with the new form. I enjoyed that goformative made the transition to a paperless classroom easy, but when I took a pulse of the classroom, I realized it was frustrating students. I took a step back to see why.

Though I will still use goformative, I will ensure my students are familiar with the new website or I will make time to accommodate for that. I decided character charts were more enjoyable for the student on paper due to the drawing aspect.
